This book has three parts. The first, a monograph by Oliver Watson andVenetia Porter, identifies and categorizes Tell Minis ware, ahitherto-unrecognized class of medieval Syrian pottery of the mid-twelfthcentury. Based on a large number of complete pieces, and on excavated materialfrom Hama, it is the first such detailed study of any group of Syria ware. Thesecond part is an important, unpublished article by the late Andrew Williamsonon the distribution of glazed ceramics in medieval Iran, using the author'sextensive survey work in southern Iran. Finally, Peter Morgan and JanetLeatherby discuss the ceramics excavated by Williamson at the site of medievalSirjan in Kirman province. This details all the glazed and unglazed wares fromthe site, and is of fundamental importance for students of Persianpottery.Allan, J.
