Southwest Kitchen Garden

A lifelong Westerner and kitchen gardener, Kim Nelson knows how to grow delicious plants and glorious flowers where the soil is lean, the water is hard, the sun is hot, the wind is dry, and the rain is scarce. She is descended from homesteaders (and gardeners) in the Mohave Desert of Southern California. Ms. Nelson is a Master Gardener, a frequent contributor to Sunset Magazine, and the author of A Desert Gardener's Companion With her husband and three children, she lives, gardens, and cooks near Tucson, Arizona Inspired by the brilliant light and color of the Southwest, Cynthia Miller's mixed media paintings can be seen in the Tucson Museum of Art, the Tucson International Airport, the City of Tucson Portable Art Collection, and many private collections.
