drienne Butterfield, born in Tennessee, considers herself a Southerner, even though she was educated in Indiana and lived and worked for many years in Utah, Delaware, and Maryland. Early in her life, she developed a strong interest in U.S. history and felt a need to learn of her family's place in it. At 22, she began researching her genealogy. Since then, she has written and published three books on her family tree. Her other great interest is creative writing. Although she has been writing poems and stories for many years, Richelieu, 1937 is her first published work of fiction. Adrienne returned to the South in 1987.
