Impact of Changes in Geographic Mobility on the Wages of the Military Family Between 1985 And 1992

The purpose of this study was to examine what changes in the geographic mobility of the military family took place between 1985 and 1992, and this mobility's subsequent impact on the labor force participation of the military spouse, and the real wages of military family members. The study showed that mobility was significantly lower for military personnel and their spouses in 1992 than it was in 1985, the labor force participation and real wages for military spouses were greater in 1992 than they were in 1985, and real wages for military personnel declined between 1985 and 1992. A sensitivity analysis performed on mobility's impact on military spouses wages revealed that mobility had a significant influence on wages over time.
