Julia Ray earned her doctorate in education from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Her research explored the power of music in second language acquisition. In addition, she holds a BA in music, an MA in education, a California teaching credential (K-8), an administrative credential, and Orff-Schulwerk certification. Currently, she is a music/language resource teacher with Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), in her 29th year, and adjunct faculty at California State University, Northridge and Citrus College in music education. Throughout her career, she has served as a lecturer/presenter for local, state and national conference, teacher trainer for several school districts, developer of the Language Through Music portion of LAUSD’s Eastman Project, and creator of Classics for Children, a program providing classical musical theater experiences for inner-city youth. Julia is the author of a number of previous works in education, a guitarist, a singer/songwriter, a past Bravo Award nominee, and recipient of the apple Award.
