With the amalgamation of the North West and Hudson's Bay companies in 1821, the Fort continued in its dual role of trading furs and supplying meat to the Athabasca District. There was never a year when it did not make "at least a small profit."Daniel Francis is the author of 'Fort Dunvegan, A Narrative History of', published 1993 under ISBN 9780920486702 and ISBN 0920486703.
