Since the early 1990s, Fernando Bryce (born in Lima, Peru in 1965) has been creating a visual archive of different elements, including newspaper cuttings, photographs, advertisements, promotional publicity, and popular propaganda. From that material, he selects particular documents and reproduces them by drawing them with black ink, thus reducing them to their basic graphic structure. In that way he creates thematic series which homogenise their sources by transforming them into black and white drawings which are almost always in the same format. This artistic strategy, which Bryce calls "mimetic analysis," has a critical and ethical intention--the selection of material shows what is hidden, whether by rescuing stories from oblivion or ironically unmasking the official discourses of power.Bryce, Fernando is the author of 'Fernando Bryce ', published 2005 under ISBN 9788475067032 and ISBN 8475067034.
