Denise Szecsei, Ph.D., is an assistant professor at Stetson University. She graduated with B.S. degrees in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from the University of Redlands. At that time she only followed professional football. She joined the Navy and taught nuclear engineering to motivated recruits. Explaining complex scientific ideas to people eager to learn was an incredibly satisfying experience. Her students responded well to her teaching style and were always willing to "drop and give her twenty" when necessary. This mixture of book-learning and physical exercise was instrumental in their successful training. After her tour of active duty was over she enrolled at Florida State University and earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mathematics. As a teaching assistant she taught undergraduate mathematics classes, and had to modify her teaching style to better suit her students (for example, no more pushups!). She won a Graduate Student Teaching Assistant Award in recognition of her ability to radically change her teaching style but not her effectiveness. As a student at FSU she also attended all of the home football games (go 'Noles!) and became a college football enthusiast. But she has yet to resolve the issue of who to root for when the Florida Gators play the Miami Hurricanes. After graduating from FSU she joined the faculty at Stetson University. Because Stetson University does not have a football team she can still cheer for her alma mater without having her loyalty questioned. While at Stetson University she has developed and taught a liberal arts geometry class, and out of that class this book was born.Szecsei, Denise is the author of 'Complete Idiot's Guide to Geometry', published 2004 under ISBN 9781592571833 and ISBN 1592571832.
