Anne Newlands is the author of five previous books, Meet Edgar Degas; The Group of Seven and Tom Thomson: An Introduction; Emily Carr: An Introduction to Her Life and Art; Clarence Gagnon: An Introduction to His Life and Art; and Canadian Art: From Its Beginnings to 2000. She was an art museum educator at the National Gallery of Canada for 25 years and currently works at the Canadian Museum of Civilization.
